December 18, 2020

 Merry Christmas from the HCA Eighth Grade!  This morning, they made Christmas votive candle holders, went caroling over Zoom with Lower School, played candyball, and attended our virtual prayer service.

Welcome 4th grade to Middle School Math Class

8th grade math class is preparing for the final exam with study guides. We will be working on our study guides for the next several weeks.  This week during our 5th grade math class we were visited by the 4th grade class. 4th grade is getting ready for middle school next year and wanted to see what it would be like to attend a middle school math class.

 Our eighth graders were installed as student leaders on Tuesday at our Founders Day prayer service. We are so very proud of them! Stevie Student Council President Student Ambassador William  Student Council Vice-President Aidan Student Council Activities Commissioner Student Ambassador Kadin Student Council Director of Ecology Lead Student Ambassador Also this week, the middle school students participated in an assembly in honor of All Abilities Month. Mrs. Ceferatti's son Simon, who was born blind, showed our students many of the tools he uses to help him navigate the world. Simon showed the students his Braille machine as well as several Braille books - even an atlas! He also shared some apps, including one called Be My Eyes , which allows blind or visually impaired individuals to connect with sighted volunteers who can describe their surroundings using a cell phone camera. We are back from spring break and our eighth graders are hard at work as the countdown to graduation begins! In math class, students are studying the Pythagorean theorem  to determine unknown side lengths in right triangles. They are also enjoying their roles as team captains for the middle school intramural volleyball program. April 16, 2021 School Wide - Waste Free Lunch on April 22nd. Celebrate Earth Day! Since we will be engaging in Earth Day activities on Thursday, 4/22, students can wear their gym uniform. Autism Awareness and Acceptance Tag Day- Friday, April 23. Please bring in $1 and wear blue. Money raised will go to The Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support.   April is Arab American Heritage Month.
